- This year, there will be around 140,000 new cases of colorectal cancer in the United States and of those around 47,000 will pass away;
- According to the CDC, individuals in the 50 and younger demographic (especially 40-50) have seen a rise in cases by 40% in the last two years alone;
- The people less likely to get tested are Hispanics, American Indians, African Americans, rural populations, men/women, those 50 to 64, and those with lower education and income;
- When caught early, colon cancer is 90% treatable through early screening;
- The top 5 states that have the highest cases of colorectal cancer are: Washington, D.C., Pennsylvania, New York, Illinois, and Iowa.
“We at Chris4Life are so excited to launch our national Love Your Butt Awareness Campaign, after five years since my mother Chris has passed,” said Executive Director Michael Sapienza. “It is incredible to see the impact we are having on the lives of colorectal patients worldwide.”
March marks the four year anniversary since the founding of Chris4Life. The Foundation is named after Christine “Chris” Sapienza, a Pittsburgh native, loving wife, mother, musician and small business owner who touched many lives and lost her battle with colon cancer. Chris’ son, Michael Sapienza created the Foundation.
Love Your Butt 2.0 Revealed (National Awareness Campaign) – Back by popular demand, Chris4Life expanded on last years inaugural launch of their creatively clever awareness campaign called Love Your Butt. The mission of the awareness campaign is to encourage people to open up and talk about their bottom or create a call to action for individuals to get screened. Last year the creative focus on people stating various names they call their bottom. This year we brought the attention down to the heart of the targeted area and focused on a variety and shapes of bottom to bring the message front and center. The Love Your Butt campaign was created for Chris4Life by DC based creative agency Hugo Creative. The campaign will run online nationally on various national platforms, as well as on TV, print, online, public transportation and radio in the Washington, DC, Los Angeles, New York City, Pittsburgh, Charlotte, Detroit, and Chicago markets.
